Think you can’t be caught drug driving?
Drivers: if you take drugs, you should never take the wheel. The consequences are real, both for the driver taking the drugs and for everyone sharing the road.
Drug driving is a growing problem. Some drivers are under the misapprehension that it’s ok to take drugs and drive.
Drugs change your judgement, your reactions and your future. No matter what drug you take, your resulting unfit driving condition will have consequences.
Did you know that the PSNI have been able to use drug wipes to detect the presence of drugs at the roadside since August 2024? The drug wipes can indicate the
presence of cannabis and cocaine in saliva. Drug wipes supplement the Field Impairment Test to help the preliminary detection of drug impaired drivers by the
PSNI. Following the administration of preliminary testing, those suspected by the PSNI of driving while impaired through drugs are likely to be required to
provide a blood specimen for evidential testing purposes and possible prosecution.
If you’ve taken drugs and choose to drive, when stopped and tested, you may lose your license, and much more when prosecuted.
Never, ever drive on drugs
